FAQ – General Contract

 

Q – Whose responsibility is it for enforcing the rights set forth in the contract? 
A –  YOU are responsible for contract enforcement and maintenance.  While the Union is here to support you, in the end your vigilance is essential in the process of safeguarding your rights.  KNOW YOUR CONTRACT, and when in doubt, seek out your local union leadership to provide clarification and guidance. 

Q – Where can I find a copy of the Contract?
A – The contract is available online.  You can also get to it from the MCCC main page.


Q – Are there any guidelines covering basic working conditions and safety in the contract?
A – Yes.  Section 2.03 of the contract states, “In accordance with applicable state or federal law, unit members shall not be required to work under unsafe conditions whenever such conditions have been brought to the attention of the President of the College or the President’s designee by the unit member(s) and the College has failed to exercise reasonable efforts to redress the complaint.”

Q –What is the definition of Professional Staff Member in the contract.  (Unit Professional)
A – In Section 1.02 Professional Staff Member is defined as “a unit member whose primary duties are other than teaching.”
